The Adamstown
Fire Company is once again beginning its annual fund drive, and we
thought it would be appropriate to provide you with an update on some of
the activities that occurred during the year 2009.
First, we
would like to thank you for your generous support during 2009, not only
with your annual monetary donation, but also with your attendance at our
Chicken Bar-B-Q’s, Soup and Sandwich sales, and Big 300 ticket sales.
Every penny is allocated to help keep our equipment in service, train
our firefighters, and continue to provide fundraisers, along with an
additional 1,345 hours performing maintenance, cleaning and preparedness
checks on equipment.
The Adamstown
Fire Company responded to 101 calls totaling 1,006 hours of time in
service during the year 2009. In addition, our volunteers have been
training every Monday evening in a variety of aspects of emergency
services. These include fire suppression, emergency medical, rescue,
hazardous materials and terrorism training. This past year alone, the
Fire Company has a total of 1,986 hours performing training in fire
suppression, rescue, haz-mat, and emergency medical services in station,
at the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy and at the Lancaster County
Public Safety Training Center. We placed in service a 1999 Ford
Expedition, which we purchased from the Fallowfield Township Fire
Company in Charleroi, Pennsylvania. This unit is being utilized to
transport additional personnel to emergency scenes and trainings, along
with being utilized by the Duty Officer as a command vehicle.
The Adamstown
Fire Company is more than just a fire company. We’re volunteers, but
we’re also friends and neighbors. We give our time generously to protect
you and those you love 24 hours day, 365 days of the year. We provide
emergency services to over 1400 homes and businesses in Adamstown
Borough and parts of East Cocalico Township, Brecknock Township and
Spring Township and assist on mutual aid calls throughout the area.
In these
extremely tough economic times, your continued monetary support is
essential to us since there is NO DIRECT TAX for the fire service. Over
75% of our operating funds come from donations given by you and your
neighbors or through Grants. The members of the Adamstown Fire Company
are hoping that you will see it fit to continue to contribute your
generous donations to the fire company’s annual fund drive, so that we
may continue to provide you with the finest emergency services in the
area. Please send your tax-deductible donation today, and help an
organization that will be there for you when you need help.
On behalf of
all the Officers and members of the Fire Company, we thank you once more
for your support and look forward to your continued support in 2010.
