The Adamstown Fire Company
is once again beginning its annual fund drive, and we thought it would
be appropriate to provide you with an update on some of the activities
that occurred during the year 2010.
First, we would like to
thank you for your generous support during 2010, not only with your
annual monetary donations, but also with your attendance at our Chicken
Bar-B-Qs, Soup and Sandwich sales, and Big 300 ticket sales. Every penny
is allocated to help keep our equipment in service, train our
firefighters, and continue to provide residents with critical emergency
services 24 hours a day. Our members have spent over 851 hours
performing fundraisers and attending meetings, along with an additional
1,936 hours performing maintenance, cleaning and preparedness checks on
equipment.
Last year, the Adamstown
Fire Company responded to 94 calls totaling 1,247 hours in service. In
additional, our volunteers have been training every Monday evening in a
variety of aspects of emergency services. These include fire
suppression, emergency medical, rescue, hazardous materials, and
terrorism training. This past year alone, the Fire Company has a total
of 1,525 hours performing training in these fields at the station,
Pennsylvania State Fire Academy and Lancaster County Public Safety
Training Center. We are also continuing with reaching our goal of having
75% of our members certified in a variety of emergency service skills.
Certifications are obtained when members demonstrate their knowledge and
ability to perform specific skills they have learned, through the taking
of State and National written and practical exams. Currently, 71% of our
active members meet one or more of the available Certification Levels
offered.
The Adamstown Fire Company
is more than just a fire company. We’re volunteers, but we’re also
friends and neighbors. We give our time generously to protect you and
those you love 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. We provide
emergency services to over 1400 homes and businesses in Adamstown
borough and parts of East Cocalico Township, Brecknock Township, and
Spring Township, and assist on mutual aid calls throughout the area.
In these extremely tough
economic times, your continued monetary support is essential to us since
there is NO DIRECT TAX for fire services. Over 75% of our operating
funds come from donations given by you and your neighbors or through
grants. The members of the Adamstown Fire Company are hoping that you
will see it fit to continue to contribute your generous donations to the
fire company’s annual fund drive, so that we may continue to provide you
with the finest emergency services in the area. Please send your
tax-deductible donation today, and help an organization that will be
there for you when you need help.
On behalf of
all the Officers and members of the Adamstown Fire Company, we thank you
once more for your support and look forward to your continued support in
2011.
